Skin care is one of my most important daily routine. My skin isn’t flawless by any means, in fact, I’m prone to breakouts and have sensitive, dehydrated skin. I’m always looking out for the next best product and have a stockpile in my bathroom, but honestly, I don’t use all of them. If I do, my daily skin care routine will be over 20 steps, and I’m WAY too lazy to do that!
When traveling, I try to skim on some skin care steps – shh, don’t tell my facialist that! That way, I have less to carry and don’t need to spend too much time layering up my skin. One way to effectively nourish my skin during my travels is to use masks nightly to replenish moisture my skin, especially after a long flight. I particularly like paper masks, they are convenient and best of all, they are disposable.
Because my skin can be unstable, I end up spending a good amount of time evaluating my skin and deciding what skin care essentials to bring with me to avoid overpacking. It’s easy to bring everything with you, but is that really necessary?! If I did that, half of my luggage alone will be of just facial and skin care products! In my previous post, one of my tips is to decant what I’m currently using and also save a stash of sample size products. These can be from different brands. Bottom line, I try to limit to these eight items to bring:
- Eye Cream
- Face Cream
- Moisturizing Paper Mask
The above eight steps is the easy part. The difficult bit is diagnosing my current skin condition and paring it with the available sample size products I have! Plus, I have to factor in what the weather conditions are like at my destination. I first go through my stash of samples before decanting anything in smaller containers. I usually bring more than enough, but I find when I decant products, I end up having ‘leftovers’ and needing to finish it when I get back. That’s why I try to bring samples, that way, I can throw them out as I go.
In addition to my skin care products, I also bring some other necessities such as perfume, hair products, sunblock, toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, just to name a few. Sometimes I bring a bit more things depending on where I’m going and how long I’m going for. The main thing is to find small versions, I definitely don’t want have my skin care products take up too much of my luggage because then, there won’t be enough room for my shopping!
In my next post, I will share what my make up essentials are! Stay tuned…
